Noted film personality Naseeruddin Shah has been selected for the prestigious Yash Bharti Samman, for the year 2016, for his contributions and achievements in the field of film acting. Uttar Pradesh government ​yesterday announced the names of 54 eminent personalities who have been selected for the ​highest state ​award in recognition of their contributions in their respective field​s​ which are fine arts, literature, medicine, education, sports, social work among others.
​Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will confer these awards on the recipients on 27th October in Lok Bhawan, the



newly built CM office at Lucknow. The awardees will get Rupees eleven lakh in cash and a citation, besides, a lifelong pension of Rs 50000. Other prominent recipients of this year are Saiyyad Mohammad Hasna for Unani medicine, Yogesh Mishra for journalism, Prof Rakesh Kapur for medicine, Dr Sabiha Anwar for education,​Venkat Changawali and Faruq Ahmad for social service, Suman Yadav and cricketers Gyanendra Pandey, Bhuwneshwar Kumar, Praween Kumar and Piyush Chawla for sports, Bashir Badr for literature, Saurabh Shukla and Anubhav Sinha for films and Mohammad Aslam Warsi for Sufi singing.
