Nation is observing Constitution Day today. Government has announced year-long celebrations beginning today to commemorate the 75th year of the adoption of the Constitution of India. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution and the year-long celebrations across the country will continue till 26th of November, 2025. On 26th November, 1949 the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution which came into effect on 26th January, 1950.
      
On the occasion of Constitution Day, a grand event will be organised at the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in Delhi where President Droupadi Murmu will address the members of both the Houses of Parliament. Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, will grace the occasion. Besides, Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, Heads of Missions based in Delhi and other dignitaries will attend the event.
     
A commemorative Coin and Stamp dedicated to the 75th anniversary of adoption of Constitution of India will be released. Books titled “Making of the Constitution of India: A Glimpse” and “Making of the Constitution of India and its Glorious



Journey” will also be released. Constitution will be released in Sanskrit and Maithili. A Booklet dedicated to the Art of Constitution of India will also be released.
     
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment announced on 19th November 2015 that Government would celebrate 26th November every year as Constitution Day.

The celebrations are being conducted under the campaign tag line Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan. These aim to honor the contribution of the Constitution’s makers while reiterating the core values enshrined in it. On the occasion of Constitution Day, millions across India will read the Preamble together today from schools to offices, and from cities to villages. 

A dedicated website, constitution75.com, has also been created to enable citizens to engage with the Constitution’s legacy through interactive activities and resources. Citizens can upload videos of them reading Preamble on the campaign website and get the certificate of participation. Government has called upon the citizens to be a part of this historic occasion and show collective pride in the Constitution.
