The National Conference and Congress jointly secured a win of 22 seats in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil polls, crossing the halfway mark. Twenty-six seats of the council went to the polls on October 4.

The administration nominates four members with voting rights to the 30-member Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC)-Kargil.

This election holds significance as it is the first key poll following the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and the establishment of the Ladakh Union territory.

said that the National Conference (NC) won 12 seats, while its ally, the Congress, emerged victorious with 10 seats. The BJP secured two seats, and two Independent candidates also claimed victory. The election witnessed a triangular contest between the National Conference, Congress, and the BJP in most of the 26 seats.

The Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference took to social media to celebrate the win and thank the voters. With photos of the victory celebrations, Abdullah posted a "Thank you" in the caption of his post on X (formerly Twitter) hours after the win was confirmed.
