Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba to commission new Naval Air Base 'INS Kohassa' at Diglipur

Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba will commission the new Naval Air Base ‘INS Kohassa’ at Diglipur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands today. Our correspondent reports that once commissioned, the airbase will be used to handle operations of helicopters and small aircraft like the Dornier.

"The new airbase in the northernmost part of the Andaman Nicobar Islands will be



used for both Defence and civil aircraft. Earlier, Naval Air Station at Shibpur was manned by utilizing the manpower from INS Utkrosh. 

Now, the airbase will function as an independent unit. With the inauguration of INS Kohassa, Andaman and Nicobar Command will further strengthen its defence capabilities in the region.
