Droupadi Murmu, presidential candidate of the National Democratic Alliance, will arrive in Kolkata on Saturday. She will meet all BJP MLAs in Kolkata on Saturday afternoon. This will be her first visit to Kolkata as the NDA presidential candidate.

Last week, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that she might have considered backing NDA’s presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu, a tribal leader of the saffron party from Odisha, had the NDA held a discussion with the opposition parties before

fielding her. However, she said that the BJP had held no discussion over the name of the candidate with them.

Droupadi Murmu, who hails from Odisha, is also being supported by non-NDA parties like Biju Janata Dal-led by Naveen Patnaik, and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) led by Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Murmu earlier visited Meghalaya and Assam where she met the chief ministers of those states. However, it is not known whether she will meet Mamata Banerjee during her Bengal visit.
