National Disaster Response Force, NDRF on Tuesday said that 50 teams of the Force have been earmarked for West Bengal, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh in view of Severe Cyclonic storm ASANI. In a statement, NDRF said, 22 teams are deployed on the ground while 28 self-contained teams are on alert within the states to tackle the situation.

As per IMD, it is likely to move towards northwest Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh, Odisha Coasts and to weaken gradually into a cyclone storm during next 24 hours.

Out of 22 deployed teams, 12 teams have been deployed at the



coastal districts of nine teams have been deployed in state of Andhra Pradesh. Besides, one team is deployed at Balasore district of Odisha.

Since the issuance of early warning from IMD, NDRF personnel are conducting awareness drives about do’s and don’ts during cyclone and persuading people living on the coastline to shift to safer place or cyclone shelters.

NDRF Headquarters is closely monitoring developments and all efforts are being taken to ensure zero casualty and minimum damage to life and property.
