The National Highways Authority of India, NHAI has taken several measures to strengthen security and curb incidents of fights at National Highway toll plazas. NHAI has issued a standard operating procedure to protect the interests of both passengers and toll operators. A special drive ‘Toll par Calm’ has been initiated by NHAI in this regard. NHAI has collaborated with professional Psychologists for anger management and customer delight training.
Road Transport and Highways Ministry said that the toll collecting agency will ensure
that staff at toll plazas wear the prescribed NHAI uniform with a name badge. Any anticipated incidence of violence should only be handled by the toll plaza Manager and lane supervisors, who will be equipped with cameras to record instances of violence.
The Ministry said, toll Plaza officials can take help from local police and lodge an FIR in case the issue persists or escalates. It added Videography can be done by the staff as proof to report such incidents to the police.
