NHRC issues notice to Government of Rajasthan on involvement of two police personnel in gang-rape and killing of Dalit

The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, has issued notice to the Government of Rajasthan over the reported involvement of two police personnel in the gang-rape and killing of a Dalit woman in Bikaner district. Taking suo moto cognizance of media reports, the commission has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police, Rajasthan and sought a detailed report within



four weeks.

The Commission observed that if the contents of the media report are true then it raises serious issues of violation of the human rights of the victim. According to the media report, a 21-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped and killed by three persons including two police personnel last week.
