NHRC issues notice to J&K govt over killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari

National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued notice to Jammu and Kashmir government over the recent killing of journalist Shujaat Bukhari and his personal security guards. 

Taking the suo motu cognizance of a media report the Commission has asked the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police to submit detailed report within four weeks. 

The commission has also asked to



provide details of the attacks made on the media persons in the last two years along with number of persons died and injured and status of relief and rehabilitation provided to the victims and their families. 

The Commission has also sought information on what special measures have been taken by the State Government to stop such incidents Jammu and Kashmir.
