National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo moto cognizance of a media report on a student from Jalore, Rajasthan who died after beaten up by the headmaster of his school.

The Commission has issued notices to the chief secretary and the director general of Rajasthan police, calling for a detailed report on the matter.

The Commission has sought replies within four weeks. Member of National Commission for Scheduled Castes



Subhash Pardhi visited Surana village and met the parents of the student yesterday.

He termed the incident of death of  child as unfortunate and condemned it in strong words. He held a meeting with various officers including Collector and superintendent of police.

A temporary police chowki has been set up in Surana village of Jalore district. More than 500 policemen are deployed in the village.
