National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a key accused in the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA-I) case related to the planting of improvised explosive devices across multiple locations in Assam. In a statement, NIA said that the accused, Gautam Barua, was nabbed from the outskirts of Bengaluru, where he was hiding.
The agency further stated
that the accused was part of the ULFA (I) operatives who had placed IEDs at locations in North Lakhimpur district in Assam at the behest of the top leadership of the banned outfit. When produced before the Special NIA Court in Bengaluru, the court issued an order for transit remand and production before the NIA Special Court in Assam.
