The National Investigation Agency (NIA) yesterday arrested a key aide of Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh and gangster Bachitar Singh from Mumbai in a Punjab terror conspiracy case. According to the NIA, arrested Jatinder Singh is a member of the terror gang formed by foreign-based Lakhbir of the banned terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). 

The agency said that Jatinder Singh



was providing weapons to on-ground operatives of Lakhbir and Bachitar in Punjab. NIA said that Jatinder Singh had brought ten pistols from Madhya Pradesh and delivered them to terror operatives in Punjab. It said that he had planned to smuggle more weapons from Madhya Pradesh into Punjab but was scuttled by NIA’s sustained search operations over the past several months.
