New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Tuesday arrested separatists Masarat Alam, Asiya Andrabi and Shabir Shah in terror funding case involving JuD chief Hafiz Saeed. The NIA has been given 10-day custody of the separatist leaders. The two are currently lodged in Delhi's Tihar jail.
A Delhi court sent Alam, Andrabi and Shabir Shah to 10-day NIA custody in terror funding case involving Hafiz Saeed. The NIA had demanded 15-day custody of the trio in a case related to terror funding.
On May 30, 2017, the NIA had filed an FIR against the separatists and charged them for links with terror outfits. Andrabi, who was brought to Delhi in 2018 is alleged to have received funds from Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed for carrying out stone pelting in the state. The
separatists are likely to be probed about the seizures recovered by the investigating agencies namely the NIA and the ED.
Andrabi, the founder of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (Daughters of the Nation), has been working for the secession of Kashmir from India and was taken into custody in July 2018 for 'waging war against India'. Alam, on the other hand, has been the general secretary of All Parties Hurriyat Conference headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Shah, the founder of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP) has been batting for the 'right to self-determination' of Kashmiris.
Earlier this year, following the Pulwama attack that killed 40 CRPF personnel, the Union Government had revoked security covers of separatist leaders and tightened the probes around such elements in the state.
