The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted searches at multiple locations in connection with the arrest of a regional committee member of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Jharkhand. The NIA yesterday said that the searches were carried out over two days at the premises of absconding commanders, armed cadres, over-ground workers and members of the frontal organisations such as MSS and AMM.
It said, around 19 different locations spread across districts of Giridih and Bokaro in the State of Jharkhand were searched in the case
registered on 30th June last year. During searches, NIA recovered various incriminating documents, mobile phones, SIM cards and other materials.
NIA investigations have revealed that Maoists extorted a significant amount of levy from road construction projects in remote areas of Giridih District. It also exposed the nefarious nexus between members of front organisations, over-ground workers and senior leaders of banned CPI(Maoist) organisations in generating illegal funds.
