Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Naseem Geelani, son of separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, summoned for questioning in a terror funding case, are to appear at NIA headquarters in Delhi today.
The NIA had, last month, carried out searches at the premises of separatist leaders, including the Mirwaiz, in connection with the case related to the financing of terrorist and separatist groups in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA probe seeks to identify the chain of players behind
the financing of terrorist activities, pelting of stones on security forces, burning down of schools and damaging of government establishments.
The case names Pakistan-based Jamaat-ud-Dawah Chief Hafeez Saeed, the front for banned Lashker-e-Taiba, as an accused, besides organisations such as the Hurriyat Conference factions led by Geelani and the Mirwaiz. The government has already withdrawn the security of the Mirwaiz along with several other separatist leaders.
