Nilgiris Mountain Train services resume

The prestigious UNESCO-heritage-listed Nilgiris Mountain Train services have been fully resumed to the pre-Covid levels. Yesterday, the Southern Railway introduced unreserved compartments to the train, which is often called the toy train.

The one of its kind train takes the passengers from the foothills of the Western Ghats at Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district to the popular hill resort



town of Ooty in the Nilgiris.

On the way, the small waterfalls, streams and fascinating mountain views, and also the adventurous tunnels and bridges attract thousands of tourists to take a ride on the train that is still being operated partially by the traditional steam locomotives. Many films have been also shot on this unique train.
