In Assam, 9 persons lost their lives so far in the first wave of floods. The situation still remains grim at 3 districts of Barak valley.
Overall 4.5 lakh people have been affected at 6 districts in current wave of floods. NDRF and SDRF rescued 6 thousand people in Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts of Barak valley on Sunday.
Nearly 1.73 lakh displaced people have taken shelter at temporary relief camps. Necessary food items including rice, dal, salt and drinking water are being given to the affected
people.
Flood water also damaged roads, river embankment and crop land. Several ministers and officials are visiting affected areas to take stock of the situation.
State Water Resource minister Keshab Mahanta visited Hailakandi and Silchar at Barak valley to assess the flood situation.
He also monitored river embankment. Later, Mr. Mahanta held meetings with district officials and instructed them to provide all help to the flood affected people.
