Nirmala Sitharaman to visit Car Nicobar today

Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is in Andaman and Nicobar for two days to celebrate Diwali with the soldiers, will visit Car Nicobar today. 

After arriving at Port Blair yesterday the defence minister visited the Headquarters of Andaman and Nicobar Command and was given a comprehensive brief on the security environment and thrust areas of the



Command.

Ms Sitharaman also met Lieutenant Governor Admiral D K Joshi at Raj Niwas and discussed issues relating to the safety and security of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

In the evening, she visited the Veer Savarkar cell in the National Memorial Cellular Jail and laid wreath at the Swatantra Jyoti. She also visited Ross Island.
