Nitish Kumar led JD(U)-NDA government will seek vote of confidence in Bihar Assembly today. The special session of the assembly has been convened at 11 this morning. Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said, there is only one agenda for the day-long session that is the trust vote. A communique from assembly secretariat said Speaker will address the assembly at the beginning of the special session and Nitish Kumar will then move the confidence motion.
The BJP and JD(U) have issued whip to their legislators to vote in favour of trust vote. On the other hand RJD and Congress have also issued whip to their
legislators. With the support of 132 MLAs, NDA and JD(U) alliance enjoys a comfortable majority in 243 member state assembly where 122 MLAs are required to prove majority. Opposition RJD has 80 MLAs, the Congress 27 and the CPI-ML 3.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made in and around the assembly building.
Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the chief minister along with BJP's Sushil Kumar Modi as his deputy yesterday by Governor KN Tripathi. The Governor has given two days to the new government to prove its majority on the floor of the House.
