Southern Railway has decided to discontinue giving woollen blankets to its passengers of air-conditioned coaches to contain Covid-19 virus.
In a statement, it has said, the woollen blanket will be supplied to only those who demand it. However, it has clarified that pillows, pillow covers and bedsheets will continue to be supplied. The curtains
will also be removed as they may play host to the virus strains. These actions will be in force for a month or until further notification.
Disinfectants are being sprayed on the exterior and interiors of all the rail coaches, electric multiple units-EMUs and mainline electric multiple units-MEMUs.
