Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh's resignation is not required, NCP leader Jayant Patil said on Sunday. A minister himself in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Patil made the statement after a meeting at NCP chief Sharad Pawar's residence in Delhi.
The meeting was attended by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, minister Jayant Patil, NCP MP Supriya Sule, Praful Patel and Congress leader Kamal Nath.
After the meeting, Jayant Patil of the NCP
told reporters that whoever the culprit is, action will be taken. "The ATS and the NIA are investigating. The state government will probe this properly. Any official, no matter how high up in the hierarchy, this is the government's determination" Patil said.
Asked to comment about former Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh's letter, Jayant Patil said, "This letter is meant to derail the investigation. There is no need for Anil Deshmukh's resignation."
