Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has said that his government is not considering any proposal for Muslim reservation.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Mr. Thackeray said the validity of the proposal will be checked once it is presented before the cabinet.
These remarks come days after Minority Affairs Minister Nawab
Malik informed the Legislative Council that the state government will provide five per cent quota to Muslims.
State’s revenue minister and Maharashtra Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat confirmed that the proposal is not being considered but said that providing reservation to Muslims is his party's commitment.
