Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that in order to effectively prevent corona infection in the state, a spontaneous corona curfew will be implemented in cities. Talking to media persons in Bhopal, Mr Chouhan said that state-wide lockdown will not be imposed because we also have to keep economic activities running.
As many as 5 thousand 939 people were found to be infected with COVID-19 virus in the state yesterday taking the total caseload to 3 lakh 38 thousand 145. Madhya Pradesh also recorded 24 fatalities pushing the death toll to 4 thousand 184. Currently, the number of active cases stands at 35 thousand 316.

Indore in the past 24 hours, while 793 in Bhopal, 402 in Jabalpur and 458 new infections have been reported in Gwalior. On the other hand, 3 thousand 306 people discharged in the hospitals took the recovery total to around 3 lakh.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 Vaccination Festival-Tika Utsav also began in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of Jyoti Ba Phule Jayanti. The Tika Utsav in all the districts will continue till Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
The state government has appealed to public representatives, religious leaders, heads of communities and voluntary organizations to ensure their active participation to make the Tika Utsav a success.
