New Delhi: Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday said that the Narendra Modi government has never meted out step-motherly treatment to any state and his party BJP has always supported the formation of Telangana.
Speaking at the Telangana State Formation Day event in New Delhi yesterday, Mr Shah said, carving of Telangana was done in such a way that it has led to bitterness. He said, many states were divided during the time of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and there was no problem anywhere.
The Home Minister said, Centre has allocated funds under various heads to the State as the state is
always close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's heart.
Mr Shah said, unfortunately, the State Government did not cooperate with the Union Government. He said, Over 2.52 lakh crore rupees has been spent by the central government in Telangana over the last eight years.
The Home Minister said, if the State Government had given full cooperation on time, then this figure would have crossed 3.5 lakh crore rupees. Mr Shah said, Sardar Patel united India and the whole nation is indebted to him for freeing people from the oppressive rule of the Nizam.
