In Himachal Pradesh, the nomination process for the upcoming Assembly elections will resume today after a holiday on Thursday.27 nominations have, so far, been filed. Monday is the last day for filing of nominations. 

Polling for the 68-member Assembly will be held in a single phase on the 9th of next month. 

Meanwhile, the state electoral department will use the Returning Officer (RO) Net in the polls.With this, Himachal will become the first state in the country to use the system. 

It was



successfully used on a pilot basis in few constituencies during of Punjab Assembly elections earlier this year. 

With this unique system the Chief Electoral Officer, District Returning Officers and Returning Officers will receive necessary information regularly.It would help officials to take proper decision promptly and efficiently. 

The presiding officers will also pass on the information regarding any technical snag in EVMs or VVPATs and law & order situation through this system.
