In Jharkhand, Nominations for three-tier Panchayat elections in the state will begin today. Preparations for the first phase of Panchayat elections are in full swing in 72 blocks of 21 districts except three districts of Khunti, Koderma and Jamtara. These three districts will go to polls polls in the second phase. Nominations for the posts of Mukhiya, President and Vice President of District Council and Members of Panchayat Samiti can be filed from 11 am to 3
pm.
In the first phase of Panchayat elections, nominations will be filed for 14,089 seats of Gram Panchayat and Ward Member, 1,027 posts of Mukhiya, 1,405 posts of Panchayat Secretary and 1,461 seats of District Council. Voting for first phase will be held on May 14 from 7 am to 3 pm.
Counting of votes for the first phase of polls will be done on May 17.
