Normal life disrupted in North India

In Himachal Pradesh, bone chilling cold wave conditions further intensified as mercury plummeted in tribal and other areas. The Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti was the coldest with mercury dropping to minus 15 degree Celsius.A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect western Himalayan region in coming days and heavy snowfall and rain is predicted by MeT department on January 15 and 16. Meanwhile, our correspondent reports that four youths are missing in Shikari Devi area of Janjehli in Mandi district. 

Two students of NIT Hamirpur and their two friends were on tracking in far flung Shikari Devi area of Mandi district when they were trapped in bad weather. They were last noticed in Kedar Budda area which is



snowbound 6 to 8 feet.After getting a complaint from the family members on Thursday a police team was sent to the area in the day but it returned without any clue. Now two more teams including one from mountaineering institute would be sent today.

Madhya Pradesh is also in the grip of a severe cold wave. The night temperature in Damoh recorded 1 degree Celsius and elsewhere plummeted further. Datia shivered at 1.5 degrees Celsius last night and Raisen at 2.5. 

Met office has predicted light rain at isolated places in next 24 hours Cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in many places over the next two days. Indore recorded 7.3degree Celsius lowest temperature in past five years.
