North India grips in intense cold wave

Cold wave conditions continued to sweep north India. In Uttar Pradesh, intense cold wave persisted in western and central parts of the state. ​The dense fog and chill disrupted normal life in most of the western districts. 
Authorities have closed down schools till Class 8 in Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar districts till tomorrow in view of intense cold wave. In Bijnore district, schools till class 8 have been closed till 30th of this month. In Rajasthan, normal life has been disrupted due to severe cold in most parts of the state. Fog has also affected rail



and road traffic in the state. In Punjab, Amritsar recorded 2.6 degrees Celsius. 
In Bengal, Darjeeling witnessed the lowest temperature of 2 degrees and its upper region of Sandak Phu and Falut are expected to receive fresh snow. With the northerly wind blowing hard from northern India, most of the districts in south Bengal experienced a chill. 
Meteorological department forecasts dense to very dense fog at few places over Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim. Dense fog at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh and North Eastern India
