In West Bengal, notification for the fourth phase of Assembly Elections will be issued today. Filing of nominations for this phase will ends on 23rd March. Scrutiny of nominations will be done on the next day that is 24th March. The last day of withdrawal of candidature is 26th March.
44 constituencies spread over five districts will go to polls in this phase on 10th April. Polling will be held at 11 seats in South 24 Parganas, 10 seats in Hooghly, 9 seats each in Howrah and Coochbehar and 5 seats in Alipurduar.
Campaigning has intensified in poll bound areas of first two phases as star campaigners are criss-crossing the state to hold rallies.
BJP president JP Nadda will be holding a
road show and a rally in Bankura today. After attending a programme in Assam, senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah returned to Kolkata late last evening and held a meeting with the state BJP leadership at night in presence of Mr Nadda.
On the other hand, star campaigners and candidates of various political parties like CPIM, Congress and TMC will be holding programmes in districts according to phases.
TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to address three public meetings in Purulia today.
First phase of polling will take place on 27th of this month for 30 seats, while another 30 seats will go for polls in the next phase on 1st of April.
