Notification for the fifth and final phase of Jharkhand assembly elections will be issued today. Sixteen constituencies in the Santhal Pargana area will go to Polls in this phase on 20th of next month. The last date of filing of nomination papers is 3rd December and scrutiny of papers will be held the next day. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till December 6th.
Scrutiny of nomination papers for the third phase will be taken up today. 337 candidates have filed nomination for this phase. 17 constituencies spread over eight districts will go to polls in this phase on 12th December.
Meanwhile, campaigning is gaining momentum in the areas where first phase of elections will be held on
30th of this month. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed election rallies in Medininagar and Gumla yesterday. He said, the BJP led government in Jharkhand is essential to speed up developmental works in the state.
JMM leader Hemant Soren, JVM President Babulal Marandi and AJSU Chief Sudesh Kumar Mahto addressed series of meetings at various places in the state. Besides leaders of Congress, RJD and the Left also held election rallies to woo voters.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in five phases between 30th November and 20th December.
Counting of votes will take place on 23rd of next month.
