Delhi government has said that the odd-even car rationing scheme will be implemented in the national capital after the Supreme Court reviews its effectiveness and issues an order. Amid worsening air quality in the national capital, the city government had earlier announced that this scheme will be implemented between the 13th to 20th of November.

Delhi  Environment Minister Gopal Rai said that the government has two studies related to Odd-Even, which will be presented during the upcoming Supreme Court hearing. He also said that the government will ban entry of non-Delhi registered commercial cabs booked through Ola, Uber, and other taxi aggregator apps into the national capital. He said, only cabs registered in Delhi will be allowed to ply in the national capital.

He said, necessary instructions have been

issued to the Transport Commissioner in this regard. He also informed that the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has been directed to start the functioning of the Smog Tower at Connaught Place at full capacity by today.

The Environment Minister also stated 611 teams involving various departments including the MCD and DPCC have been formed and under the Anti-Open Burning campaign, these teams will monitor and prevent open burning incidents in Delhi.

Yesterday Mr. Rai also held a meeting with the IIT Kanpur team exploring the opportunity of cloud seeding to cause artificial rain. In view of air pollution in the national capital, the December winter break of all schools has been rescheduled and now it will be from the 9th to the 18th of this month.
