The Odisha government has announced a complete 14-day lockdown in four districts and a municipal corporation starting this evening following a rapid spurt in COVID-19 cases in these places.
The complete lockdown will be imposed in Ganjam, Khordha, Cuttack, Jajpur district and Rourkela Municipal Corporation area of Sundergarh district from 9 pm tonight till 31 July.
Chief Secretary A K Tripathy said the
decision was taken as around 66 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases in the state are being reported from these four districts.
During this lockdown, only essential services and movement of workers associated with these services will be permitted. All shops and commercial establishments, offices and institutions shall remain closed and mobility of people will be restricted.
