In Odisha, flood situation in northern parts of the state continue to be alarming with major rivers like Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga and Jalaka in spate following incessant rain since last four days. Many areas of Baliapal, Bhogarai, Jaleswar and Basta blocks in Balasore district, Badasahi, Betonati, Rasgovindpur and Saraskana blocks in Mayurbhanj district have been badly affected with thousands people still marooned in the flood water.
Boats are ferrying in the villages as many villages have been submerged with flood water. People are forced to take shetler by pitching temporary tents on
the roadside as flood water seeped into their houses. The National Disaster Rapid Action Force, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force and fire service personnel have evacuated thousands of people to safer places as relief and rescue operations are still on.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi made an aerial survey of the marooned areas of Balasore district and held a high level review meeting today on the flood situation. He directed the administration to provide cooked food and other relief materials immediately.
