Bhubaneshwar: Odisha Government has approved five major industrial projects giving a big push to the steel production capacity of the state. This will almost double the state's capacity to 58 million tonnes per annum from the current 30 million tonnes.
These projects worth over 1.4 lakh crore rupees were approved by the State High-Level Clearance Authority chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik yesterday. These projects include the expansion of five major existing steel projects in the state
namely Tata Steel in Jajpur, Bhushan Power and Steel in Sambalpur, Jindal Steel and Power in Angul and Rungta Mines Limited's steel projects in Keonjhar and Dhenkanal districts.
These extended projects will ensure a capacity addition by 28 million tonnes per annum which will further zoom in on the state's dream to achieve 100 million tonnes steel production capacity by the year 2030 which was a rock-bottom two million tones in the year 2000.
