A Maoist was killed
in an exchange of fire between the security forces and ultras in the jungles of
Niyamgiri hills in Rayagada district of Odisha on Saturday.
According to sources,
the exchange of fire occurred at around 4.30 a.m. at a remote spot inside the
Niyamgiri jungle, near
Dangamati village. The operation led by Rayagada
Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Siva Subramani involved personnel of Special
Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF).
The body of the dead has been seized. The other ultras were reportedly injured in the encounter.
