In Bihar, one person was killed and two others injured in police firing under Barsoi area in Katihar district during a violent protest over the issue of inadequate power supply. District Magistrate of Katihar Ravi Prakash confirmed one death during the clashes between mob and police.
 
The peaceful demonstration by local people over power outage turned violent at the block office of Barsoi and agitators resorted to stone pelting and vandalizing public property including electricity office. Officials said police resorted to precautionary firing and lathi



charge to disperse the violent mob.
 
Katihar SP Jitendra Kumar said in view of the tense situation in the area heavy deployment of police force has been made. He said the situation is under control in the area.
 
The BJP has criticized the state government over the incident. BJP state President Samrat Choudhary has demanded a judicial probe of the incident. He alleged that the claim of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar about 24 hours of power supply has been exposed with the Karihar incident.
