One terrorist belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen was killed and 2 army men injured after a gunfight broke out in Wangam area of Shopian in Jammu and Kashmir early on Monday morning.
The injured soldiers have been evacuated from the scene of the encounter and are now stable, said an ANI report.Meanwhile, Pakistan engaged in heavy firing from across the LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch district, said a PTI report.
This is the 101st incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, following India's surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC) on September 29.Pakistan opened fire at 9:15 a.m. using 120 mm mortars, 82 mm mortars, automatics and small arms.
No casualties have been reported on
the Indian side till last reports came in.
There have been several instances of terrorists attempting to sneak into India over the past month, following India’s surgical strikes against terror camps across the LoC.
On Sunday itself, the security forces foiled two infiltration bids by terrorists under cover of a Pakistani ceasefire violation. Two soldiers died in the operation while five were injured.
But the army has also inflicted heavy damage to several Pakistani posts across the Line of Control in Poonch sector on Sunday.Indian security agencies have also apprehended Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists attempting to cross into India several times over the past few weeks.
