In Jammu & Kashmir, the one way traffic movement on Srinagar Jammu national highway will be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu today (Thursday) subject to fair weather and good road condition in landslides and shooting stones prone areas along the highway.
The highway remained closed for almost seven consecutive days till Tuesday forenoon following landslides and shooting stones hitting the road in various areas in Ramban sector.
On Wednesday more than one thousand trucks carrying essential
commodities including petroleum products, cooking gas etc and over 400 passenger vehicles crossed Jawahar Tunnel late last evening to reach Srinagar. These vehicles were stranded for past around a week in Jammu, Udhampur and Ramban due to bad weather that triggered landslides and shooting stones in vulnerable zones along the highway.
The travellers have been advised to contact Traffic Control Units in Jammu, Ramban and Srinagar for status of the road before starting their journey on the 300 Km mountainous highway.
