Guwahati: Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has said that only a healthy nation can become a developed nation. He was speaking at foundation stones laying and inaugural programmes of several infrastructure works under the Pradhan Mantri- Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), National Health Mission (NHM) and XVth Finance Commission Health Grants virtually from Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati yesterday.
Mr Mandaviya said, first priority should be on health if any nation wants to be prosperous and developed. He said, the government is working to achieve the target set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be a developed nation by 2047.
The Union Minister laid foundation stones virtually for 50 bedded Critical Care Block at Lakhimpur Medical College
and Hospital, One Integrated Public Health Laboratory at Nagaon District, 5 Block Public Health Units at Kamrup, West Karbi Anglong, Cachar and Charaideo Districts and 1 Community Health Centre at Dibrugarh district.
Mr. Mandaviya also inaugurated the infrastructure works namely up-gradation of four Sub-district hospitals at Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa & Jorhat districts and construction of 4 Community Health Centres at Barpeta, Hailakandi & Sivasagar districts under NHM.
The Union Minister also attended the programme at IIT Guwahati on Amrit Kaal-Vimarsh Viksit Bharat @2047 on the theme of Transformation of Healthcare in Amrit Kaal.
Assam Health and Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta also attended the programme.
