Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh have geared up for the state-wide bandh on Saturday protesting against denial of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.
Meanwhile, the Congress party has announced that they would block the national highways. All the opposition parties have urged the people to make the bandh a success. The bandh is likely to affect the services of APSRTC, including long distance services as the political parties have decided to block the national highways.
On the other hand, the
State police is gearing up to prevent any untoward incident in the state. DGP N Sambasiva Rao on Friday convened a meeting with the higher officials in Vijayawada and instructed to take all measures to prevent any untoward incident.
The police anticipate that the impact would be more in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kadapa, Chitoor and Nellore districts. The DGP called upon the opposition parties not to force the shop keepers to pull down the shutters or create problems for the common people.
