Indian Meteorological Department has said, wet spell is likely to continue over Northwest India till 17th October. It said, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Tamil Nadu and Kerala during next two days. Light to moderate rainfall will occur at many places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm and lightning over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab today.
In Kerala, the Department has issued orange alert in the Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Idukki districts, indicating the
likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall. The Department has issued yellow alert in all other districts in the state, besides Lakshadweep. It said squally weather, with windspeed reaching up to 45 kmph is likely to prevail over Kerala and Lakshadweep. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea off Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.
A few places over Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are also likely to receive rainfall today. Light to moderate rainfall is likely at most places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands till 19th October.
