Enforcement Agencies under the Election Commission have seized over one thousand crore rupees worth of cash, liquor, drugs, freebies and other inducements in the ongoing State elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand along with bye-polls in 14 states.
According to the commission, the authorities carried out seizures worth over 6 hundred 60 crore rupees for the Maharashtra elections and around 2 hundred crore rupees for the Jharkhand elections. The total
seizures in these states are 7 times higher than the one carried out during the assembly elections in 2019.
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has directed all officials including Chief Electoral Officers, District Election Officer, Superintendent of Police and Observers to continue strict watch over the next two days and curb the distribution of any inducements till polling is complete.
