In Jammu and Kashmir, under the centrally sponsored scheme Samagra Shiksha, the Ministry of Education (MoE) has approved the installation of Sanitary Pad Vending and Incinerator Machines in more than one thousand Government run schools of the Union Territory.

The Installation and Commissioning of the ‘Sanitary Pad Vending and Incinerator Machines will be started soon in 1025 designated schools of J&K which were approved during the previous year under the Samagra Shiksha.

At least 1025 Government schools including 74 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and 951 High and Higher Secondary schools were approved by MoE for the



installation of these machines under Samagra Shiksha.

The concerned officials of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu and Kashmir have accordingly requested the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) to instruct the Head of the Institutions (Hols) of the designated schools to finalise a suitable position and location for mounting the equipment within school premises along with the availability of 6 Amp AC socket preferably with uninterrupted power supply.

However, in schools where electrical fitting is not available, the expenditure incurred on it shall be met from the school electric fund and Annual School Grant.
