Voting concluded peacefully for the fifth phase of Assembly Elections in Uttar Pradesh yesterday with an approximate voter turnout of 57 per cent. 61 constituencies spread over 12 districts went to the polls in this phase.

The districts where elections were held are Shravasti, Bahraich, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Amethi, Raebareilly, Sultanpur, Gonda, Pratapgarh,



Kaushambi, Prayagraj and Chitrakoot. Of these, voter turnout was highest in Barabanki with over 66 per cent of electors exercising their franchise and lowest in Pratapgarh with over 52 per cent. 

The state is witnessing seven-phase elections and political parties are now campaigning for the sixth and seventh phase of polls.
