Over 80 lakh devotees took the holy dip till 8 pm last evening at the Triveni Sangam of Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The grand festival has attracted millions of devotees from India and abroad. Our correspondent reports that so far 49.14 crore devotees have bathed in the Sangam including many eminent personalities.
Saints, devotees, and pilgrims from all walks of life are taking the holy dip. Chhattisgarh Governor Raman Deka took a holy dip and performed prayers. Chhatisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also bathed in the Sangam and was accompanied with Assembly speaker Raman Singh, ministers from his state cabinet and several MLAs.
Talking to media, Mr Sai congratulated Uttar Pradesh government for the arrangements and said that he wished for the betterment of the people of Chhattisgarh.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also bathed at the holy sangam along with his family. He said that the holy waters, divine energy and spiritual environment of this place makes it out of the
ordinary.
While, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that this is a divine moment for all and a very precious time when people from across the world are coming here. He said this while taking a dip at the Sangam.
Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot took a holy bath as well. Prasar Bharti Chairman Navneet Sehgal was also present at the Mahakumbh today. After taking a holy dip, Mr Sehgal addressed the Kumbhvani channel of Akashvani and appreciated it for reaching the masses. He said that the broadcast is reflective of Prasar Bharti’s objective of delivering correct and truthful news and information without any manufactured controversies. He said that Prasar Bharti will keep on making more interesting programs like this and keep on re-inventing itself.
Apart from Ministers and government officials, actors Vicky Kaushal, Vivek Oberoi and Puneet Issar were also present at the Sangam today. Mahakumbh continues to attract devotees from around the world.
