The Opposition leaders have condemned the beating of Muslims in Seoni, Madhya Pradesh by gau rakshaks over suspicion of carrying beef.
Former chief ministers of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti as well as AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi slammed the incident.
In a tweet, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, "This is how Muslims are treated by Vigilantes created by Modi voters. Welcome to a New India."
Omar Abdullah shared the video of the incident and wrote, "Ibtedaae ishq hai rota hai kya...Aage Aage dekhiye hota hai kya."
Further, Mehbooba Mufti said that she was horrified by the incident and hoped that the office of CM Kamal Nath takes swift
action.
"Horrified to see cow vigilantes thrash an innocent muslim with such impunity in MP. Hope @OfficeOfKNath takes swift action against these goons," Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
The self-proclaimed gau rakshaks had gotten a tip off that two Muslim youths and a woman, who were travelling in an auto, were carrying beef.
In the video, the gau rakshaks held the youths to a tree one by one and beat them up mercilessly as the onlookers stood by. The goons are also heard shouting at the youths to repeat 'Jai Shree Ram' slogans while forcing one of the youths to beat the woman who was accompanying them.
Police has registered a case and five people have reportedly been arrested, while search is on to nab the others accused.
