Pahalgam Terror Attack: Maharashtra CM assures safe return of stranded tourists

The mortal remains of Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale, both residents of Pune who were killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to Pune early this morning. Their last rites will be conducted at around 9:30 AM today.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has stated that the government’s priority is to safely bring back tourists from the state who are stranded in Kashmir. He added that special arrangements are being made to facilitate their return.

State officials confirmed that four injured tourists are in contact with authorities and are reported to be safe. Efforts are underway to gather information about other tourists from Maharashtra who are currently in Jammu and



Kashmir.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Minister Girish Mahajan have reached Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Shinde met with stranded citizens from Maharashtra yesterday and assured them of all possible help.

The state administration has appealed to the public to inform district authorities if they have any relatives or acquaintances in Jammu and Kashmir. A 24-hour helpline has been set up by the Maharashtra State Disaster Management Department for this purpose. Concerned individuals can contact the helpline at 022-22027990.

Widespread protests and condemnations were held across Maharashtra following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Various political parties expressed their grief and paid tributes to the deceased tourists.
