Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday asserted that people were offering consistent support to the TRS government.
Addressing the media after the by-poll results were out, Chandrashekar Rao said Palair people had given the TRS a landslide victory by voting for the party candidate and Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao, who got 45,650-vote margin over Congress candidate Sucharitha Reddy.
Extending thanks to people on the victory, Chandrashekar Rao said Tummala had broken the record by getting a margin of 45,000 votes in Palair this time which had never seen a majority of 25,000 votes previously. In 2014 elections, the TRS got only 4,100 votes and this time it got more than 96,000 votes, which increased the responsibility on the government and the party, he said.
“The mandate is indeed the people’s persistent and staunch support to our schemes and developmental programmes,” the Chief Minister claimed. He also exhorted the leaders of the party not to get carried away and become headstrong, but instead have humility towards people’s issues. “Let us not be proud which is not good and instead
serve them the best,” the Chief Minister noted and added that the people were supporting the TRS in each and every election from 2014.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media after his cakewalk in Palair by-poll, Tummala said his responsibility towards the people’s welfare had increased with this win. Expressing gratitude to the constituents for supporting his candidature, Tummala vowed that he would spare no effort to develop Palair constituency as an ideal one.
He also attributed his massive win to the historic welfare programmes being implemented by the K Chandrashekar Rao government. Surprisingly, the TRS candidate registered 5,400 lead over the Congress candidate in the first round itself and went on increasing his lead in every round, leaving his rivals Congress and the CPI (M) far behind.
Chandrasekhar Rao said it was a clear mandate of the people on the TRS government's efficient administration and developmental programmes. He thanked the people and the party cadres of the constituency in particular. Congratulating his Cabinet colleague Tummala, he promised that his government would always strive to meet the expectations of the people.
