Panchayat elections being held in Sikkum today

Panchayat elections are being held in Sikkim today. More than 2 lakh rural voters across the state are expected to exercise their franchise for 500-gram panchayat and 84 Zilla panchayat seats.

Of the total 849 polling booths

in the state, 16 have been declared sensitive in south Sikkim. The official sources said sufficient police personnel and jawans from paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure free and fair polls.
