Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar has described the Paris agreement a historical achievement for mankind saying that countries should implement it in letter and spirit. Addressing the Major Economies Forum in New York, Mr. Javadekar said, with signing of the historic agreement, developed world needs to immediately ratify the Kyoto Protocol 2nd commitment period and should present enhanced pre-2020 actions.
He said, early fulfillment of 100 billion dollar per year
mobilisation by developed countries is important, because without means of implementation, many countries' Intended Nationally Determined Contributions will not be fructified. He said, pre-2020 actions of developed countries should be in accordance with the principles and provisions of the convention. Mr Javadekar said, it should be comprehensive which includes all relevant sources and reservoirs of green house gases, and adaptation as well as finance, technology development and transfer, including cost effective technologies.
